 Discovering BDS
« Thread Started on Dec 9, 2008, 2:29am »

I've read so many stories of how people discovered BDS, so I thought I'd share mine. About a year and a half ago, I was in the middle of divorcing(15 year marriage, 2 kids). I remember driving home one night wallowing in sadness( not seeing my kids every day was extremely difficult). I happened to turn on the radio just as "Come Home" was coming on. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The guitar, the vocals. I was instantly hooked. When the DJ said the band members were 20 years old, I thought he made a mistake. How could three young kids make that incredible sound. The last time I had that type of experience was when SRV's "Pride and Joy" was released. It just grabs a hold of you. I spent the next day on-line trying to find as much as I could about this new band. I was fortunate that they had an upcoming gig at the Mercury Lounge in Manhattan(I live in the burbs). Bought two tickets and took my girlfriend. The plan was to get there early and stand right in front. While we were hanging at the bar waiting for the opening act, Davy K walked out from the back. I caught his eye and extended my hand. I told him I couldn't wait to hear him play. In the coolest manner he said, "thanks mate, hope you enjoy it". They opened with "Outside Womans Blues". You could hear the jaws of 150 people simultaneously hit the floor. Each song was so tight. Bought the cd that night and listened on the car ride home. When "Stay" came on, it brought tears to my eyes. Still does. Just want to thank Davy, Ross and Adam. Thanks for putting a smile on my face.

Wow.... that's very moving... I was introduced to them through my father. He came home with a cd one day, just out of the blue. Now you have to understand, my father DOES NOT buy cds, so I knew that this had to be something amazing. I listened to it and was blown away. When I saw how young they were (not to mention how handsome!!) I was shocked. Been hooked ever since!
