In case you didn't know, Paul Jones played 'Riding With the King' on his BBC Radio 2 show on Monday, which was fantastic in itself. But it was what he said AFTER that really made us smile... he said that he played it partly because he liked it, but also because he'd been hounded at a blues festival by a listener this summer, for NOT having played Back Door Slam yet! Which proves the Power of the Slammer ;D ;D ;D You can still hear the show online here: www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/jones/index.shtmlbut that link will only be active til his next show on Monday. We get our play very early on, 2nd track in, after Taj Mahal! If you haven't heard Paul's show before, and you're a blues fanatic, you'll love it So, we just wanted to say THANKS for all your support - see, it does make a difference! BDS

Hey, glad to hear that Paul played the song. Paul's actually quite good at playing music from up and coming blues and blues rock bands. I'm sure he'll play another song or two once you start playing some dates over here. You should also consider recording a session with him when you get back. Good to see you get some recognition, touring here will get you more! Geoff, was that you?

Not me friend, although I have pleaded with him via his website to both play something of their album and to "get them into the studio at all costs as they are tearing up the States right now"
Anyway they'll be getting their Bonababtism tonight - what a night that will be for the fans, for BDS for Joe and for Rick, Carmine and Bogie - They are goin' to get on so well!

I admit to being the guy who hounded Paul at the Upton Blues Festival European Blues Association Forum. He promised to play a track if he liked the album, but said that he hadn't received a copy. Obviously someone (not me) sorted that one! Blues Matters have similarly bemoaned the fact they haven't received a promo CD. Someone needs to review the promotional opportunities in the UK for when BDS do plan a tour. Daughter Danielle and I would love to promote another gig in Gloucestershire when you guys are ready! Keep on Slammin'. Dave Wade

Welcome to the Hound! This post slipped my attention yesterday! Glad to hear you got Paul to play BDS. Word does appear to be spreading in the UK, as seen by the growing number of Brits on the forum, despite the lack of coverage of the band. I'd also echo what Dave said, please ensure you are issuing promo copies to the media, its not just Blues Matters, magazines like Classic Rock have also yet to mention BDS. It interesting to know that the have played in Gloucestershire before too. I'm sure any future gigs there will be at a larger venue

hey greenose n The Hound! Paul was actually sent a copy personally shortly after the album was released, but we didn't hear anything back from him... re Classic Rock, we also sent them a copy and they did feature it the following month (i think the review is actually on the 'reviews page' of the website - something to do with them 'studying the greats'?) apart from that, there purposefully isn't much promo going on in the UK yet, with the boys not being available for touring yet, but a few of the 'major players' have been informed about the BRILLIANCE of ower lads! but any organic fan promo is ALWAYS welcome cheers again for all that you're doing! guac

Thanx for the welcome! The Glos gig was at Sudeley Castle, and BDS and co-star Eddie Martin went down a storm. Subsequent year's event with Lightnin Willie and the Poor Boys was cancelled due to the floods, i.e the gig went down because of a storm. The BDS gig got a crowd of 350, so it's one of the best attended UK (as opposed to IoM) events the boys have played. I understand that Maryport Festival were trying to contact the band- any news on that?

Sorry about the error ober Classic Rock. I'm sure they will do more features once the band are available over here for touring. I'm getting a feeling that will be sometime early in the new year... Am I right Guac? Interesting to hear about the gig at the Sudeley Castle from you, thehound. I'd never realised they'd played such large gigs on the "mainland". Maryport would be a good festival for the band too, relatively local too, if they can fit it in their schedule.
