Well, it's the big family get together at my youngest sister's home today. All of us will be there including my 3 sisters, all of my nieces and nephews and my 10 great nieces and nephews. This could be a bitter sweet time of year for my family, if it was not for the belief that we will see each other again once we're all through down here. You see, my wonderful mother's last meal was spent with all of us at this same home 8 years ago today. My mother actually waited until 3 minutes after midnight to leave this Earth that Thanksgiving night; I guess she didn't want us to think of Thanksgiving Day as the day of her death.
Each year when this day comes, I use it as a way to rejoice in the life she led. Many people wonder about my generosity and it really all stems from my mom. For you see, she was a woman of very little material means, but if you needed the shirt of her back she would have gladly given it to you. Always one with a kind word even to those she hardly knew, I try to emulate my mom in my own life. Happy Thanksgiving Day mom and say hello to dad for me too!

Hey Roy, you're in my thoughts. My Mom took wing 3 days after Thanksgiving, 18 years ago. She was a sweet little country woman with a wicked sense of humor and a great love of music. We woke up in the morning to anything from Hank Williams, Sr. to Elvis to Led Zeppelin (Black Dog was her favorite) to Kansas. Music and love held us together. Is there a better legacy?
