found this on Davy's website guess its been up for a little bit now and i just never read the post
So I’ve reached the end of the Jeff Beck tour, and not only did I have a great time - but I learnt a ton too. Playing solo acoustic is tough, and with nothing behind you to back you up your mistakes stick out like a sore thumb! I had a blast though. It was wonderful to end the tour by playing the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic benefit gig in San Francisco. One of the biggest thrills for me was playing with Kevin Hayes and Karl Sevareid who were members of the Robert Cray Band that my Dad took me to see when I was 16. What an honour! And what an honour indeed to share that stage with master songstress Bonnie Hayes who helped pen the song “Back Door Slam”. To end the night I had a free-form Hendrix jam with music legend Nerada Michael Walden and Haight Ashbury Free Clinic founder John Eckstrom. Add to that playing alongside the always wonderful Christine Collister, and you get a picture of how fun a night it was!
I’m looking forward to a load of stuff this year, I’m up in Seattle right now rehearsing up a fully electric set to support my new album, ‘Coming Up For Air’ that comes out June 16th. There are a load of dates booked for this summer, with more being added all the time, so keep an eye out! It’s gonna be good to turn it up and rock it out!

Am I mistaken or was the band's name on the first album just Back Door Slam. Now suddenly it's Davy Knowles AND Back Door Slam. Doesn't that bother anyone?

your right it was just back door slam on the 1st album, as for the 2nd it bothers me ALOT but im pretty close to 1 of the old band members, unfortunaty to the powers that be having a "lead" man who stabs his so called mates in the back does not matter, but thats only my opinion

Dragonfly, Sadly, from an outsider's perspective in the states who has seen BDS w/Adam and Ross at least 4 times, that is the impression that I get and I know nothing. A studio album in the books supported by a band that didn't play on it just rubs me the wrong way, too. I wish this never happened as I certainly don't have that passion for Back Door Slam errrr I mean Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam anymore. And now, sigh, the domain just redirects to davyknowles.com. bushi

Bushi and Dragonfly - I too was saddened by the breakup, having loved the Davy-Adam-Ross experience and the Roll Away tour. The silence over the winter was very difficult, and I was very skeptical, especially once it was clear that touring band was not the studio band. BUT - all that being said - is it about loyalty or about the music? Because the music in live performance is flat-out, mind blowingly impressive. The new cd is fine, but it pales compared to the live experience. Chesapeake Bay festival was good; 6 weeks later in Columbus was so amazing that I've rebooked for the Birchmere and have hotel reservations for Musikfest. I was a huge fan of BDS with Adam and Ross, having seen/heard them perform live 5 times in 2008! And I wish all good things for Adam and Ross. But I can't believe what I hear with the current BDS. Please, listen to them live and let your ears be the judge.

I was upset to read your post re: new album. You seem to be angry about the fact that 3 boys were taken from the Isle of Man and given the opportunity of a lifetime.
I am close to the music industry so can see some of the problem. You don't seem to understand how the industry works, surely if you are close to one of the members they can make you aware of the 'ins and outs'. It would be interesting to hear how they feel that they have been 'stabbed in the back'. Surely you realise that they will, in time, receive due rewards for their part of the project.
Another point that is worth making is that they surely, whilst being on tour, had the opportunity to make some important contacts that could benefit them - even to showcase their work. Fame is not handed to gifted musicians. It's incredibly hard work. The guys surely have the intelligence to see this.
I Have read a lot of negative posts, unfortunately, regarding the split of the band. From what I hear Davey Knowles is a good guy who had an opportunity to go on the ride of a lifetime and decided that he wanted to take his 'friends' along. Davey, maybe, could have gone on his own but decided to share the opportunity - I don't know. It's unfortunate that these things happen but they do. I have seen this before and the bands have reformed in later years and had success. Who knows what the future holds. It would be wise to contain your resentment as it could effect their involvement in future projects. The support of family and ''friends'' is vital in this industry to musicians of their age.
This is a my personal opinion from 30 years in the music industry.

But when you say something like this, I must take exception. I counted all three members of the former "Back Door Slam" as my friends. All three, Davy, Adam and Ross were the most humble and nicest people I've ever met in the music industry; and I've met many. Why and how they broke up is no one's business but the three people concerned. Was I sad when it happened? You bet! But I'm old enough to know that things in life change and in most cases, change for the better. Most music groups go through changes and so, this group changed too. Concerning the past/present members; I consider Davy to be a very good friend of mine and he remains as one of the most polite, sweet and humble young men I've ever known. I've also met and talked with both PK (bass) and Steve Barci (drums) and they too are great guys. I saw the original group perform four times and they were great. I saw Davy open as a solo act for Jeff Beck and he was fantastic. And now I've seen "Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam" perform twice as the new band and they are absolutely thrilling! My mother always said, "If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all." I speak only for myself, but your negative comments are not welcome here. Here, look at this video that I took if you have any further doubts: www.youtube.com/watch?v=clUUOruVU7sRoy P.S. By they way, the new album is Absolutely Fantastic and is another testimony to how GREAT of a song writer Davy Knowles is!!!!

i suppose i should take what 4info4u says and contain my resentment at what happened to Adam and Ross in case it effects what the boys want to do in the future, they may reform in the future its just that not everyone knows what really went on where as i do, and tho as i said it is a dog eat dog world out there and davy was looking after number 1 as is his right, the way it was handled could have been better. As i said im not going to listen to anything else the new band will release so maybe it would be best to draw a line under my bds experience, had a great time reading what everyone has said about the OLD bds it was a pleasure to hear what the boys did both on cd but especialy live

I must say, I did hear from Adam recently and he is working on music of his own with some people in London. He promised to give us a listen when it's been recorded. Adam also told me that Ross is tending bar and has plans to go to Drum College soon. So both young men have some plans laid out. Roy

The part that makes me feel that maybe it wasnt completely mutual is that adam and ross are no where to be found on any back door slam page that has been updated really like davys myspace or what not. How ever music is music i like what i like tho i do feel this album is weaker then the previous album

seriously guys? have you seen davy knowles live now?
I have seen BDS live (with ross and adam) six or seven times (all in CO). Were they good? Hell yeah. However, it was obvious... OBVIOUS every time it was the Davey Knowles show. Ross and Adam added nothing to the music (especially Adam who just stood their motionless without any expression) and were by far holding Davey back on what his potential could be with a good band. I have taken many people to see BDS live and nearly every person said the same thing. "Davey is unreal but I can't wait to see what he would be like playing with good musicians".
Yeah it is sad that Davey ditched his friends. But if you are going to better your career and truly become huge, it is a move he had to make. BDS would never have made it "huge", with Ross and Adam. Absolutely not.
Just saw them play in CO twice (mile high and red rocks) with his new band. SOOOOOOOO much better now. The musicians truely feed off each other, and Davey with a good band makes Davey an even better musician.
Anybody who doubts this move, go to one of their new shows. You will be blown away.
