The boys ended up picking two winners from all the entrants that came in (and yes, they read every one individually and chose the winners themselves!) - they were both great entries, and it was really hard to choose between them both... They were: LISA, who wins tickets to The Urban Lounge in Salt Lake City, and BIANCA, who'll be going to the infamous Viper Room in LA in November. Well done guys! ;D They'll be treated well on their nights out - free merch, meeting the guys and plenty of photie opportunities - hopefully they'll report back here after the event (that makes it sound like homework! ) Keep an eye on the site - and these forums - for more competition opportunties soon...

Yay! I won!!! Can't quite believe it... I'd be going no matter what, but this is extra special and pure joy! My cheeks hurt from so much smiling and giggling. And I'm probably one of the oldest fans, my husbands beats me by a few years. BDS rocks all ages! I've been talking BDS up since catching them that first night opening for Rusted root, been playing the disc over and over, emailing radio stations, telling all about how incredible this band is. So very stoked to see you again tomorrow! YIPPEE!!!

I've been passing the word on BDS to so many people, trying to get more people aware of how amazing Slam is. Thanks so much for showing up again, and for awarding me with tix! I love how sweet and unaffected by all you seem, watching the vid's on YouTube and talking to you that first time at the Depot. See you tomorrow! Hopefully, all the folks I've been yapping almost nonstop to about you will show and realize for themselves that the magic IS within you. I am so fortunate... Thanks again.

Well, here I am doing my homework. Tonight was awesome!!!! Thank you ever so much. I know I was grinning ear to ear the entire set. I am blown away by your talent, all three of you. Truly was a joy. I know I was not the only one who felt that way. And I made some new friends. Can't get much better than that! For all of you out there, make sure to spread the Word of Slam. This was a very small venue tonight. Crowd was small. I enjoyed the intimacy. I know my talking these guys up got a few more people there than would have normally shown on a night midweek. Next time through, I know they'll pull a bigger crowd. But its up to us fans to build steam under it. For all those I spoke to, 5 showed. Growth will be exponential. Radio play takes time. Call all your local stations and tell them to play Back door Slam. Spread the word. Field recordings are beginning to show. Go to bt.etree.org. A site that shares trade friendly bands, field recordings in a non MP3, non lossy form. Nothing commercially released. Could be more field recordings of BDS will follow. But DO go out and BUY their cd, buy the t-shirts. These guys work hard! Even though I was given stuff tonight, I still bought a shirt (bought the cd and a different shirt last time). I cannot tell you how privileged I felt to be witnessing this band so early in their career. They do possess the magic! Thanks again, Take care. Lisa

Hey Lisa Yeah I am definately trying to do as much as I can to share the outstanding music of BDS! I have passed them along to many friends all over the country. Since I work in LA, everyone knows someone in the business so I am trying to spread the word. Tonight I actually got invited to the grand opening of some new Hollywood bar ( i know, i sound lame, but i suppose you have to play the game sometimes !) and i have a copy of their cd all ready to go. I work with a company that sells tonics, so I am always working with venders that are trying to keep up with the trends. Sharing the music of BDS with people, i try to tell them that good music will draw good size crowds! We will see my friend! HAHA i talk about BDS so much my friends laugh at me But whatever, you guys rock and deserve the praise. I cant wait to see you guys in LA!! I keep on trying to spread the word, and kudos to you for doing the same!

Hahaha Lisa I just this random idea - it's like we're "Slam-mates" (ya know, like playmates?!) Lol, as you can tell I am working really hard today Maybe I will make a T-shirt that says something along those lines. Okay, I am just thinking out loud....err, out-typing? LOL

Hey, at 47 I'll take what I can get! Though you know these young men are more like sons to me. And rocker gods at the same time! All so very talented. Yes! All. I've already offered to cook them dinner next time through my valley, even offering to do their mum's recipes (I was serious guys!).
Tonight I was at a free outdoor show here in Salt Lake City. Calexico. Ran into folks that were also at BDS last night, some older friends, some newer. One I met last night at the show, recognized me from my 15 seconds of fame, now forever archived for all mankind to share by my friend Dave, wink,wink... I overheard people talking about Back Door Slam, the buzz is about. Then my son texts me to say he found flyers on campus at the University of Utah, he knowing how much I love BDS. The ground swell is upon us. As much as I want to see big things happen for my surrogate sons (sorry guys, I can't help it, I'm a mum and a rocker, if you were 30, I'd be looking at you differently...Please don't hold it against me... Really, I do hold you in the highest regard... I don't bother with many indie bands out there, wouldn't accompany my daughter to Fall Out Boy or All American Rejects-and don't you even look at my little beauty with elevator eyes if you ever play here at an all age venue-she's something else, best of both parents, though you can still come to dinner..., and Davy, she'd die to have something with chords and such signed by yours truly-her name is Laura... just looking here at the pc desk, there's stuff/chords she's printed out, Tegan and Sarah from a site, ultimate guitar... Something different each day. She was so thrilled with the T you guys signed - for her.. And then begged me for the poster, wanted it hung in HER room, not next to my Bob Dylan...) So I'll be kinda sad when BDS is no longer able to play small venues, so intimate, and have to go grand scale where we are all lost in the crowd. See the dreams I have for Back Door Slam! No, not dreams, The Future. Capitalized.... And my old man, he is now the cool guy at work. His coworkers that showed last night were so unbelievably astounded at the music last night. A couple have their own bands and were falling all over themselves thanking him for thinking to send an email telling them about Back Door Slam. Yeah!!! The Men from Man, those guys called Back Door Salm, they rock sooooo hard. YEAH! And me and Bianca are Slamates!
I am so lucky!!!
So when are they back in SLC? I've heard November. But where? Not on the site yet.
(And guys, aren't you the luckiest that I don't chat this much in person. Though you are all so very kind and sweet and... just know I'm in this part of the world, here for you, all three -well Mark, too-we have that MA connection- Steve, we never spoke...whatever I can do to help you reach that which you wish to attain. I'll be listening. Oh yeah! And Ms. Guacamolee, thanks for the vid's...Humanizes the guys.)
'Night now...
Bianca, Ms. SisterSlam, have fun!!!! wish I was seeing them agan next week.

And what are Karma points all about? If I earn simply for posting, I could be here forever. At my age, I need all the karma points I can score...

Karma points are given to you by another member.... hehe now you will have another one! I believe you can only "exhalt" once an hour, so you have to be somewhat frugal with them. if you "smite" someone, they lose a karma. Be kind, don't smite Treat others as you would like to be treated, right!? Yea, okay so I belong a few music forums... I'm cool like that, just like Digable Planets But yea, it's a nice way to make someone feel special (I am such a cheeseball) *exhalts Lisa for being a wicked cool Slam-mate

I believe I have now added to your karma!
Thanks! Wish I could've smited a few people at work tonight. Too long of a story for here. Just glad I'm home.
Still spreading the word on Slam. Can't wait to see them again. The sad greedy part of me knows next time it could be way different, a packed house all wanting to hear and see, with short me lost in the crowd. I'll need to worm my way to the front. Though that'll be great for the guys, so I'll understand, and maybe they'll let me come watch backstage on the side... I'd behave! I can be a roadie, help Mark. 'll sell the stuff or fetch water for the guys, coil cable, carry gear to the van, whatever. Put me to work, I'd be pleased and honored, just so I can hear more Slam.
See, just thinking about BDS, I find myself smiling, forgetting the crummy night at work. Thanks Adam, Davy and Ross! Your music lightens the load.
Have fun next week Bianca. Hope you get to meet them. If so, tell 'em hi!
